Choosing the Perfect Venue for Your Event: Insights from an Event Venue Owner

As the owner of Speakeasy On State, I've had the pleasure of hosting a diverse array of events, from intimate weddings to grand corporate galas. I’ve learned that selecting the right venue is crucial to the success of any event.   • Type of Event: Knowing whether it’s a formal conference or a casual celebration helps in tailoring the space and services.

  • Number of Attendees: It’s vital to have an accurate estimate to ensure everyone is comfortable. Our venue can hold a max of 300 guests, however, that means breaking your party up into 2 different rooms. If you want to keep your party together, our max would be 200 guests.

  • Budget: Understanding your budget helps us recommend the best options within your price range. Don't be afraid to set a budget and stick by it! You never know what kind of packaging options may be available that would fit your budget and allow you to have the venue of your dreams.

2. Location is Key

The venue's location can make or break your event. From my experience, guests appreciate venues that are:

  • Easily Accessible: Our venue is centrally located, making it convenient for both local and out-of-town guests. We are close to many restaurants, bars, hotels and shopping as well.

  • Ample Parking: Making sure there is ample parking is a detail often overlooked but highly valued. We recommend that all of our guests parking the huge parking lot across the street where CVS is located. There is no time restriction and there is plenty of spaces available.

3. Creating the Right Atmosphere

The ambiance of the venue plays a significant role in setting the tone of your event. Speakeasy on State provides a historically elegant ambiance.

  • Versatility: Our space can be transformed to match various themes, from elegant weddings to professional seminars.

  • Aesthetic Appeal: We’ve invested in preserving decor from the past, updating just enough to bring in some elegance, and flexible layouts to make sure our venue can align with your vision.

I believe a venue should offer more than just a space. That’s why we provide:

  • Essential Furnishings: Our venue is equipped with round tables, farmhouse tables and chivari chairs. These furnishings come with each rental and can be used at your discretion.

  • In-House Catering: We offer customizable catering options, featuring gourmet menus that can be tailored to your event’s needs.

  • Accommodation Partnerships: For multi-day events or guests traveling from afar, we have partnerships with nearby hotels to provide convenient lodging options.
